“Hansenbyó” was created after having a conversation about the history of leprosy in Japan. The way was treated and the pain that cause to their citizens there. About the island the government designed in order to secluded every one who was sick and that it was opened till 1997.
The album is not a political rebellion or else, but the influence of it in the treatment of sound and composing.
The vocals and background noises were done by Yama-biko, a Japanese noise vocalist who prefers to sign always under unreal names, in order to prevent himself of getting to close to any musical movement.
In this case he decided to sign himself under the name of “Yama-biko”. The yamabiko is a small creature that resembles a cross between a dog and a monkey.

The term "yamabiko" is also used to describe the phenomenon of a delayed echo in mountains and valleys, and is thought to be the spirit answering. This anomaly is also sometimes called "kodama", when it is thought to be the answering voice of a tree spirit.
